DEGENERATED DISCS AND KNEE PAIN REDUCE QUALITY OF LIFE;
CHIROPRACTIC IMPROVES IT
Degenerated discs and degenerated knees aren’t
such strange-bedfellows. They are examples
of musculoskeletal diseases and spinal disorders that are correlated with a lesser quality of life
for older folks. Issues like low back pain, lumbar
spinal stenosis, knee pain because of osteoarthritis, decreased
lumbar lordosis (visible on xray), and enlarged
sagittal vertical alignment (as seen on xray) affect
a person’s quality of life. Lumbar spinal stenosis and knee osteoarthritis are
the most influential issues for patients having a poorer
quality of life. (1) Another report links the disc height of the L1/L2,
L2/L3, and L3/L4 to knee pain with L2/L3 being the most strongly related.
(2) The old “Dem Bones” song holds true! Everything is connected!
A
degenerated disc may be connected to a
degenerated knee. OrthoIllinois Chiropractic is well aware of
the connection and is ready to help.

CHIROPRACTIC TIP OF THE MONTH: Extruded Discs May Regress!
Extruded discs - discs whose gelatinous centers leak out – are apt to be a bit worrisome
than disc bulges to their owners, but in a recent report
they regressed with conservative, non-surgical care! At about 17 months of
care, 75% of extrusions completely resolved, 15%
partially went away, and 10% did show any resolution.
90% did! Additionally, those patients whose discs regressed
also stated that they had significantly improved NRS pain scores,
symptoms and disability issues. (3) OrthoIllinois Chiropractic helps extruded discs find relief! They do not
scare us!
Listen to this discussion about care of the disc extrusion with Cox® Technic on The Back Doctors Podcast with Dr.
Michael Johnson as Dr.
Ted Siciliano shares this case of a disc extrusion in a weight lifter he successfully
helped.
